Daily Hotness: Olympic Losers Pursue Topless Dancing

Posted by mattymoe on August 14, 2008

The boys of the New Zealand soccer team don’t get down on themselves when they lose, they just get down!

After losing to Belgium in the first round of the Olympics 0-1, the Oly-Whites (as they’re called back home) broke out the Haka — a traditional Maori war dance teams from NZ usually perform before a match to scare the holy hell out of the other team.

No word on why they decided to bust a move after the loss, but as long as that guy keeps his shirt off — who really cares?!

China’s Little Ashlee Simpson

Posted by mattymoe on August 13, 2008

This is so messed up. Did you guys watch the opening ceremony for the Olympics in China? Well, the adorable little Chinese girl who sang “Ode to the Motherland” as part of the elaborate performance was actually the more “photogenic” choice of performer.

Basically, a director of the opening ceremony explained to the media that having a prettier girl lip synch to the voice of what was believed to be a less cute girl who could actually sing was “for the national interest.”

Wow. So, nine-year-old Lin Miaoke is getting credit for singing when it was really 7-year-old Yang Peiyi. I can’t understand how she wasn’t cute enough. Does she have horns, or something? Not that I have anything against people with horns, but yeah, that would be distracting. Or guns for hands–that’s both distracting and dangerous.

Me Spanish, Me Play Joke….

Posted by mattymoe on August 13, 2008

That’s basically the apology members of the Spanish Olympic Basketball team have issued to the Chinese people after mocking their eyes in a photograph that ran in a Spanish newspaper.

In a statement, Spain’s Pau Gasol — who’s also a Laker in the NBA — said, “It was something like supposed to be funny or something but never offensive in any way. I’m sorry if anybody took it the wrong way and thought it was offensive.”

But wait — it gets better. Another Spanish player, Jose Calderon — who also plays for the Raptors — wrote on his blog, “We felt it was something appropriate, and that it would be interpreted as an affectionate gesture.” He added, “Without a doubt, some … press didn’t see it that way.” DUUUUHHHHH!!?!?!!?

How Do We Say This Delicately????

Posted by mattymoe on August 12, 2008

Uhmmm….

Can someone pretty please tell him how to properly display the flag to photographers???

George W. Bush continues to embarrass us in Beijing.

The commander in chief has been catching many of the matches, especially the swimming and Michael Phelps.

Thankfully, W.’s daughter corrected him and he eventually turned the flag around!

The Golden Boy Wins First Gold – Sets Another New Record!

Posted by mattymoe on August 10, 2008

Michael Phelps won his first medal of the Olympic Games on Sunday in Beijing.

And, of course, it was Gold!

The U.S. swimmer smashed his own world record, comfortably winning the 400 metres individual medley gold medal in four minutes 03.84 seconds.

This is the first of a potential record-breaking eight gold medals at the Olympics for Phelps.

It was Phelps’s seventh career Olympic gold medal and ninth overall as he chases down Mark Spitz’s 36-year-old record of seven golds at one Games.

Let’s hope he does it all!

He’s already made history today.
